  1. Photograph Decisions:

First Place: 16. Birds in the Vines. This one was chosen because of its composition and usage as a Black and White Image. The contrast between the bird's shape and the other shapes in the image make it stand out in what would be an otherwise busy image. Silhouetting the bird was very effective. The image also dips in and out of focus which creates some interest. Very well-suited for black and white.

Second Place: 15. Longhorns. The composition and thought behind the picture is what captured this one. A nature vs. industry picture there not only is a contrast of light and dark in this image but between the buildings and the longhorns. The sky is a bit of wasted space and could've been done without but the message is still carried through and the image is thought-provoking.

Third Place: 13. Negro y Blanco. This was chosen because of its simplicity, it's contrast, it's composition. Good use of space. Two wires connected to make a heart...positive and negative. So too in out lives are hearts shaped by both the positive and the negative. Creative use of the subject matter and kudos for not putting it in the center of the image but leaving it off to the side as it makes the image more interesting.
